キタムラサキウニを、海ではなく陸の上で育てる。Awesome Seaは青森・浅虫を拠点に、ウニの陸上養殖に取り組んでいます。 We raise northern sea urchins (Kitamurasaki-uni) not in the sea, but on land — here in Asamushi, Aomori.
餌には、地域で出る食品残渣を活用しています。本来は捨てられてしまうものを、ウニの餌に変えています。飼育は人工海水を使った完全閉鎖循環方式で行い、海の状況に左右されにくい養殖を目指しています。 Our feed makes use of local food by-products — things that would otherwise be thrown away. The urchins are raised in a fully closed recirculating system with artificial seawater, aiming for farming that doesn't depend on conditions at sea.
研究面では東北大学と共同研究を進めています。2023年には経済産業省「J-StarX」に採択され、AgVenture Labをはじめとする支援プログラムにも支えられています。 We carry out joint research with Tohoku University. In 2023 we were selected for METI's J-StarX program, and we are supported by programs including AgVenture Lab.
また、就労継続支援B型事業所と連携して養殖設備を運用し、利用者の方が関われる作業づくりを進めています。漁師・研究者・福祉がいっしょになって、地域の資源を循環させる仕組みをつくっていきます。 We also run the farming equipment together with a supported-employment (Type B) welfare facility, and are building tasks that its members can take part in. Fishermen, researchers and welfare partners working together to keep local resources in circulation.
